Founded in 1958, St George’s is one of the leading British International Schools in Europe. At St George’s we embrace our rich history and with close to 100 nationalities in our student body this makes us one of the most international schools in the world.
We are proud of our pupils who achieve amongst the best results in the region in their academic studies, going on to the very best universities around the world. Our dedicated, passionate staff inspire our learners to be the best they can be both in the classroom and beyond. We encourage participation in a wide range of activities beyond the classroom in music, drama, design, and in other areas such as community service.
We are exceptionally proud of the young people we are helping to develop at St George’s. Our pupils are welcoming, polite, compassionate and serious about their academic studies. They are also convinced that they have the capacity to make a difference in the world, which is evidenced through excellent work that the pupils put into supporting the school’s orphanage in Zambia.
We combine an enhanced UK National Curriculum with the ambitious IB Diploma
Our education is based upon the renowned UK-national curriculum, enhanced to meet the needs of our pupils in the context of our location in the heart of Europe. This culminates with pupils completing GCSE / IGCSE examinations, before progressing into the Sixth Form, where the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is undertaken by all pupils. The IB Diploma combines rigorous academic standards with intellectual breadth to develop young people who are literate, numerate, aware of their world socially and scientifically and able to communicate their experiences in at least two languages. Additional components in research, critical thought and community service complete the education of very well-rounded individuals equipped for life in the 21st century.
We’re Truly International
We are proud to be the most diverse school in Italy and indeed a truly international school. Pupils from 100 countries are currently enrolled at St George’s, hailing from all corners of the globe, creating a special learning environment that nurtures tolerance, respect and understanding. Nowhere is this better showcased than at International Evening, where parents, pupils and staff come together to celebrate our diversity through an evening of wonderful food, activities and a parade of nations.
We are Inclusive
We are a non-selective school. This means that we welcome all pupils, regardless of their academic background, and strive to provide every individual with the opportunity to be supported, and challenged. As the oldest British international school in Rome, we do prioritise admission for international families and those relocating from overseas. Our Additional Educational Needs (AEN) department supports pupils with a varying range of learning support needs, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and thrive within the dynamic classroom environment.
Our Academic Results are on par with the leading international schools globally
Our pupils continue to set new benchmarks with their performance. Our (I)GCSE and IB examination results are consistently far ahead of global averages and compare favourably with highly-selective IB schools in the UK. The academic performance of the students facilitates access to many top universities, including Ivy League institutions in the US, Oxbridge, and the Russell Group of 24 leading UK universities committed to research of global impact and outstanding teaching.
Our Vision
To be the best International School in Europe where all learners discover their passion and purpose, developing the character, skills and confidence to make a difference in the world.
Our Mission
To ensure that all learners become the best version of themselves, in an environment of collaboration, respect and kindness. We focus on the inspirational teaching and holistic development of highly committed, aspirational and resilient learners. Everyone contributes to our happy and welcoming school community where strong relationships and cooperation lead to exceptional learning.
Our Founding Values
We are an internationally diverse community where differences are respected and celebrated.
We are a welcoming, inclusive community where all pupils, alumni, staff and parents are encouraged to thrive, feel safe and belong.
We are a highly aspirational community where all learners are challenged to strive for excellence in all that they do.
City Centre
St George's City Centre Junior School is situated in Via di Santa Maria Mediatrice, close to the Vatican in the south-west of central Rome.
This location is new, with relocation from the old Nomentana site completed in September 2017, in order to allow for increased space and state of the art facilities.
The 1500 square metre building houses brand-new classrooms, its own library and playgrounds, and pupils make use of two football pitches, an impressive indoor gymnasium, a 400-seater auditorium and a 25m swimming pool.
Approximately 200 of the 980 pupils currently enrolled at St George's are based at the City Centre site, ranging from Red Dragons up to Year 6.

La Storta
The La Storta site, home of St George's since the 1960s, has spacious grounds on the ancient Via Cassia, with magnificent views over the Veio Regional Park to the Abruzzo mountains.
The main building of the school comprises six floors. The lower floors are occupied by the Junior School, which has its own separate and well-equipped playground.
The Senior School, housed within the upper four floors of the main building, contains ICT and computer rooms, a drama studio, the main library, seven science laboratories, art and design studios.
All pupils benefit from access to the 4G multi-purpose sports pitches, which truly offer something for everyone, encompassing a full size football and rugby pitch, a four-lane athletics running track and accompanying long-jump pit.
