Welcome

Founded in 1958, St George’s is one of the leading British International Schools in Europe. At St George’s we embrace our rich history and with close to 100 nationalities in our student body this makes us one of the most international schools in the world.

We are proud of our pupils who achieve amongst the best results in the region in their academic studies, going on to the very best universities around the world. Our dedicated, passionate staff inspire our learners to be the best they can be both in the classroom and beyond. We encourage participation in a wide range of activities beyond the classroom in music, drama, design, and in other areas such as community service.

We are exceptionally proud of the young people we are helping to develop at St George’s. Our pupils are welcoming, polite, compassionate and serious about their academic studies. They are also convinced that they have the capacity to make a difference in the world, which is evidenced through excellent work that the pupils put into supporting the school’s orphanage in Zambia.

About Us

We combine an enhanced UK National Curriculum with the ambitious IB Diploma

Our education is based upon the renowned UK-national curriculum, enhanced to meet the needs of our pupils in the context of our location in the heart of Europe. This culminates with pupils completing GCSE / IGCSE examinations, before progressing into the Sixth Form, where the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is undertaken by all pupils. The IB Diploma combines rigorous academic standards with intellectual breadth to develop young people who are literate, numerate, aware of their world socially and scientifically and able to communicate their experiences in at least two languages. Additional components in research, critical thought and community service complete the education of very well-rounded individuals equipped for life in the 21st century.

We’re Truly International

We are proud to be the most diverse school in Italy and indeed a truly international school. Pupils from 98 countries are currently enrolled at St George’s, hailing from all corners of the globe, creating a special learning environment that nurtures tolerance, respect and understanding. Nowhere is this better showcased than at International Evening, where parents, pupils and staff come together to celebrate our diversity through an evening of wonderful food, activities and a parade of nations.

We are Inclusive

We are a non-selective school. This means that we welcome all pupils, regardless of their academic background, and strive to provide every individual with the opportunity to be supported, and challenged. As the oldest British international school in Rome, we do prioritise admission for international families and those relocating from overseas. Our Additional Educational Needs (AEN) department supports pupils with a varying range of learning support needs, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and thrive within the dynamic classroom environment.

Our Academic Results are on par with the leading international schools globally

Our pupils continue to set new benchmarks with their performance. Our (I)GCSE and IB examination results are consistently far ahead of global averages and compare favourably with highly-selective IB schools in the UK. The academic performance of the students facilitates access to many top universities, including Ivy League institutions in the US, Oxbridge, and the Russell Group of 24 leading UK universities committed to research of global impact and outstanding teaching.

Relocating to Rome

Rome.jpg

Rome, the Eternal City, needs no introduction.

Its role in world history, famous cuisine, natural beauty, and artistic heritage are well documented. Rome is a rewarding place in which to live and work: teachers, staff, students and parents alike benefit from the cities many cultural sites, restaurants and activities. Whether you enjoy skiing in the mountains, hiking in the hills, or strolling along the coast, you can easily access an exceptional range of opportunities.

St George's offers support to new staff to help them with their transition into daily life at the school and in Italy. The St George's relocation programme includes help with medical arrangements and facilitating a range of social opportunities. Dedicated help is also given to finding accommodation, whether this be in the centre of Rome, in the leafy suburbs surrounding the school, or at beautiful Lake Bracciano, 30 minutes to the north of the school.

All new staff benefit from a series of 'Getting the most out of Italy' sessions, where they have the opportunity to meet existing staff and hear their views on various aspects of Italian life - from art and culture to driving! Numerous social activities at the beginning of the school year, and throughout the year, provide further opportunities for staff to get to know one another outside of the classroom.
